The Apple event on September 12 was spectacular in California. The company launched the iPhone 15 series into the market. Compared to previous series, there are a lot of changes in these.
Last year, the Dynamic Island feature was limited only to the 14 Pro models. In fact, this attracted many tech enthusiasts. So this time, Apple has added this to the base models iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus as well. It is believed that this will become standard in all future iPhones.
Dynamic Island means. It is a pill-shaped cutout on the top part of the phone screen. Sensors like camera, Face ID are housed here. That’s why Apple has added various functions to this cutout and changed the software UI accordingly. So this cutout not only acts as an empty space on the screen, but works as a feature. It helps in controlling functions like incoming calls, notifications, music playback etc from here.
USB-C Type C
This time, complying with European Union regulations, Apple has given a USB-C port instead of the proprietary lightning port and cable it has been providing since 2012. Now if the iPhone runs out of charge you can simply borrow a USB-C port charger from neighbours and use it.
New action button
The volume rocker on the side which had the mute or vibrate buttons has been replaced with an Action button in the iPhone 15 Pro models. You can activate the camera, turn on flashlight, launch voice memo, switch focus modes etc through this button. Like before, you can also change ring and vibrate options through this button. Also, we can assign some specific functions to this button as well.
In regards to cameras, Apple has made substantial distinctions in the iPhone 15 base models compared to their previous series. Until now, they were providing a 12MP main camera sensor. This time, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have a 48MP camera.
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models are being provided with the A16 Bionic processor. Although this is not new, earlier it was limited only to Pro models. The Pro models in the 15 series are reserved with the A17 processor. Compared to iPhone 14 base models, the iPhone 15 base models are said to be 7 times faster as per experts.
Frosted glass back panel
The frosted glass back panel, earlier limited only to Pro models, is now being provided in iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus as well. This keeps fingerprints away from camera lenses. Also the look is very premium.
The Pro models in iPhone 15 are coming with a Titanium design. This significantly reduces the weight of the phone.
In India, pre-orders for these phones start from September 15. iPhones will be available to users from September 22, as per Apple’s website.
