Microsoft Teams introducing a new spatial audio feature for immersive meetings on desktops. this feature was initially tested in April and is now available for all desktop users on Windows and macOS. The spatial audio feature aims to provide immersive sounds during virtual meetings, allowing each caller to have a unique position on the screen corresponding to their location. This ensures that voices sound spread out, mimicking real-life interactions.
The spatial audio feature can be enabled through the device settings before joining a meeting. Users can choose between a wired stereo headset or built-in stereo speakers as their output options for spatial audio. However, there are limitations to this feature. It does not support Bluetooth earbuds or headphones, and users will need to use a stereo-capable device, such as a wired headset or stereo-capable laptop, to use the spatial audio feature without any interruption.
Microsoft is working on incorporating support for Bluetooth LE, which might enable Teams’ spatial audio to support wireless devices like Samsung, Sony, OnePlus, EarFun, and more.
