ChatGPT creator OpenAI, an AI-based company, made a key decision to remove Sam Altman as CEO.

The AI-based company OpenAI, which created ChatGPT, the AI-based technology that has recently become a global sensation, made a key decision to remove Sam Altman as CEO. In a statement, the company said that Altman was not transparent and failed to share proper information during internal discussions with the board. It said the board has lost confidence in Altman’s ability to lead OpenAI. The company announced that the decision takes immediate effect and Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati will serve as interim CEO.

Responding, Altman said “I’ve loved working at OpenAI and serving as its CEO. I believe deeply in the mission and people here.”

The launch of ChatGPT, powered by artificial intelligence, took the world by storm recently. While ChatGPT has many uses, experts have pointed out that it also has many harms. They said it could take away jobs in many fields. Although OpenAI has the potential to develop even more powerful AI beyond ChatGPT, Altman had earlier said they are not ready yet to release it. He also said that users are not prepared for the consequences and that it was difficult to imagine what could arise from it. Microsoft, a key backer of OpenAI, has invested billions of dollars into the company. Currently, it uses the AI model in its Bing search engine.
